Mold? Fungus? What do you call this?

I recently stumbled upon an auction by someone selling a batch of bulk rolls of long expired ORWO NP27, an ISO 400 black and white film. According to the seller they were probably bought in 1988 or 1989. I purchased one and was confident the film might still be good for normal or slightly artsy pictures, given some good experiences I had made with lower ISO film. I hadn’t shot expired film with a higher ISO before but had seen pictures online and they looked pretty good. After shooting and developing 24 pictures it seems that my roll has had some mold or fungus growing in between the layers of film, I’m guessing it might have been stored in a damp place for a while. Anyway I think the scans of these formations look pretty interesting! I have about 16 meters left on the roll, not sure what I’m going to do with it but I’m sure there will be an occasion to shoot it again. The seller also still has some bulk rolls left. If anyone is interested I can forward the link.
